CETS

The Childcare Education and Training Support programme (CETS) is administered by the Department of Children & Youth Affairs (DCYA) on behalf of ETB/Solas and the Department of Social Protection.

The allocation of places under the programme is managed by the DCYA, via the City and County Childcare Committees (CCCs). The information is then passed on to Pobal, who make the payments to providers on the Department’s instructions.

For more information on the CETS programme, please see our information document:

CETS CE

In Budget 2014 it was announced that the Childcare Education and Training Support (CETS) Programme is being expanded from 1 January 2014 to include Community Employment (CE) Participants.

A CE Participant, who needs childcare for child/children between the age of 1 and 5 years, in order to take up a place on a CE Programme, is eligible for a CE CETS place/s. There is one exception – where a child/children of a CE Participant is participating in ECCE during the same time as the CE Programme (i.e. morning or afternoon), that child cannot transfer to a CE CETS place.

Places are open to existing CE Participants as well as new entrants.

HOW DO I SECURE A CETS PLACE ON CE?

The CE Sponsor will tell you about the CETS programme and give you a list of Childcare Providers participating in the CETS programme.
You should then contact a Childcare Provider in your area to book a CETS place. You can use your letter of offer of a CE place to do this.
If you are already on CE, your Sponsor will give you a letter stating this.
You should then contact the childcare service most convenient for you to see if they have a place available and arrange to visit the service. Complete the 2014 CETS Application/Declaration Form

The Childcare Provider will accept your letter and offer you a place, if there are places available.

CETS ETB/SOLAS

Parents who are doing a CETS approved ETB or SOLAS course may be eligible for a childcare place under this programme. Talk to your ETB or SOLAS coordinator to find out if you are eligible for a CETS childcare place. If you have any questions about whether you are entitled to CETS, it is ETB and SOLAS who decide eligibility.

HOW DO I SECURE A CETS PLACE?

If you are a parent and are eligible for the CETS Programme; you will receive a letter of eligibility from ETB/SOLAS stating your entitlement. The letter must state all of the following:

name of the parent
name of the eligible course
start date and end date of the course
number of weeks of the course
Confirmation that you are eligible for childcare with the CETS programme for this course. (The Department may stop payment and seek repayment of monies paid out if it transpires that a provider does not have adequate proof that a parent is entitled to CETS.)

You should then contact the childcare service most convenient for you to see if they have a place available and arrange to visit the service. Complete the 2014 CETS Application/Declaration Form

The Childcare Provider will accept your letter and offer you a place, if there are places available.
